During a walk at the mall on Thanksgiving weekend, we encountered a gorgeous shrub with red berries and a bounty of yellow, orange and burgundy leaves. The reason we like it is because it maintains interest and color throughout 4 seasons! Even in the cold of Winter, the red berries persist! During Spring, Summer and Autumn, the dainty leaves change colors. We have noticed the leaves are a light green and burgundy in Spring, and turn bright red and orange in Autumn. This shrub is not a member of our landscape, but it will be soon. During the last couple of years we have noticed this shrub in different settings as we run errands, sightsee, and travel.

Thanks to @aspensgrove we learned the name of the shrub is Heavenly Bamboo! We plan to add this stunning shrub to our landscape, to fill in a blank space. The “blank space” in our landscape is a long story. It used to contain luscious, deer-resistant evergreens that anchored the front of our home. Stay tuned as we identify the “blank space” in our landscape, and what happened to those luscious evergreens!
