It’s February and it’s very cold in the Mid-Atlantic area of the U.S. We are sooo looking forward to Spring! Our first blooms are daffodils and hyacinths. Since we have abundant wildlife in the nearby woods, we have to plant with deer, rabbits, and squirrels\/voles\/moles in mind. Fortunately, daffodils and hyacinth are not appealing to deer, rabbits, and squirrels\/voles\/moles. Daffodils and hyacinth are bulbs which should be planted in the Fall. They are Spring’s earliest bloomers, and such a welcome sight after a long cold winter. Daffodils are so easy to plant and care for … After digging a hole about 6 inches deep and planting the bulb (pointy side up) in a sunny spot, there is no need to fertilize or prune.
