The best time to prune flowering shrubs is just after they have bloomed, but before they set bud for their next blooming cycle. For example, our Snowmound Spirea blooms in mid-Spring every year. It only blooms once per year, so we prune it in early Fall. Our azaleas bloom in late April, but since they set bud immediately after they bloom, we prune our azaleas in May.<\/p>\n

Our Neon Spirea shrubs bloom continuously throughout the Summer, therefore we prune them in the Fall. Our Cistena shrub blooms in mid-Spring, so we prune it in late-Spring\/early Summer. When pruning, be sure to clean your pruning shears with soap and water to minimize spreading disease from one shrub to another.
