Brynn and Lo have reached a point in their lives where they want to enjoy the fruits of their labor. A critical aspect of enjoying life is health and wellness. You can have all the money in the world, but if you don’t have your health, it’s much more challenging to enjoy life. On a daily basis, Brynn and Lo make a conscious effort to:

  1. Eat healthy
  2. Exercise
  3. Minimize stress by gardening and traveling
  4. Take Nutrilite vitamins and supplements
  5. Manage pain
  6. And as they say, “sit back and smell the roses.”

Eat Healthy

Brynn and Lo are huge fans of Dr Oz. If you’ve ever watched his TV show, he encourages viewers to reduce saturated fats, sugar, and salt in their diets. He also advises women to eat 25 grams of fiber per day, and men to eat 30 grams of fiber per day. According to Dr Oz, the fiber keeps you “regular.” Brynn and Lo eat very little red meat, and prefer poultry, and seafood for their main dishes. Dr Oz also encourages viewers to eat beans, which provide fiber and protein. Brynn and Lo noticed that a half cup of beans with lunch and dinner helps to keep them fuller for a longer period of time. Although they love sweets, Brynn and Lo try to limit sweets to just 10% of their daily caloric intake. Brynn and Lo use fruits, nuts, and seeds as a healthy substitute for sweets.  Go to Brynn and Lo’s Retail Space for literature on healthy eating. Click on the Nutrition tab in the top menu.

Exercise

Brynn and Lo try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. They have enough room in their home to walk around the unfinished basement. Brynn and Lo use the walking time to communicate with one another about their day. They also do lots of stretches to keep their joints flexible. Brynn and Lo take Nutrilite Glucosamine-7 to maintain joint health. To learn more about maintaining healthy joints, click here.

Minimize Stress

Continuous stress has a negative impact on the mind and body. Therefore, it is very important to develop coping strategies for reducing stress. Focusing on enjoyable activities such as gardening and traveling helps divert Brynn and Lo’s attention from the stressful events of the day. Imagine relaxing on your deck, patio, or lawn, and taking in the beauty of the surrounding trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. Take a deep breath in, hold it for 7 seconds, then exhale by blowing the air out through your mouth. Repeat 2 – 3 times. Notice the difference in how you feel. Don’t you feel more relaxed? Even if you only have 5 minutes to step outside and absorb nature, do it! You will be amazed at the effect of nature on our minds and bodies. A recent study proves that touching a plant reduces stress … for details, click here.

Nutrilite Vitamins and Supplements

The typical diet will not provide all of the minimum suggested daily requirements of vitamins and minerals the body needs. Nutrilite vitamins and supplements shore up your diet to make sure your body receives everything it needs to perform at full speed! Brynn and Lo take a daily multivitamin, Omega 3 for brain health, and Vitamin D3. Brynn works in a job where she is looking at computer screens all day long, so when her eyes feel tired, she takes Nutrilite Vision Health with Lutein. Both of Brynn’s parents wore reading glasses, and so far, Brynn has avoided the need for reading glasses! Brynn believes it is due to the benefits of Nutrilite Vision Health with Lutein.

The Importance of Vitamin D3

According to an interview with Johns Hopkins Geriatrician Alicia Arbaje, “Low Vitamin D levels are linked to so many diseases including osteoarthritis, depression, pre-dementia, and heart disease. We have also seen studies that show those with low Vitamin D have less balance and reduced muscle strength. This can make you more likely to fall, which often results in hip fractures. Studies are underway to research Vitamin D deficiency and an increased cancer risk.” Brynn and Lo take Nutrilite Vitamin D3 every day! Visit Brynn and Lo’s Retail Space to learn more about vitamins and supplements.

The Dangers of a Vitamin B12 Deficiency

According to Dr Arbaje, “Your body needs Vitamin B12 to make new cells, such as red blood cells, for your nervous system to work normally. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anemia (having too few red blood cells), which can make you feel tired or weak. A Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause other symptoms include trouble walking, tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, and memory problems.” Brynn and Lo take Nutrilite Natural B Complex, which has 100% of the suggested minimum daily requirement of 6 mcg of Vitamin B12.

Manage Pain

Every time Brynn and Lo meet someone in their 80s and 90s, they ask “What is your secret?” Very often, their response is “the ability to manage pain.” Pain management is critical to quality of life as we age. Brynn works in an office environment where she is sitting at a desk all day long. Brynn’s physical therapist advised her to get up every hour and walk around. It gets the blood circulating again, and gives the muscles and joints a chance to move around. To manage pain, instead of taking pain medication, Brynn prefers using heat and ice packs, stretching, and exercising. If Brynn is experiencing joint or muscle pain, she applies a heat pack to the area for 20 minutes. This relaxes the muscles and tendons. Afterwards, she performs stretches she learned from her physical therapist. If the pain is minimal, she will perform exercises (learned in physical therapy) to strengthen the surrounding muscles. Finally, she applies an ice pack to reduce inflammation and pain. Ever wonder why athletes sit in a cold tub of ice? Ice reduces pain and inflammation! Be sure to consult with your physician or medical professional about pain management!

Sit Back and Smell the Roses!

As a society, we are so driven to work and accomplish our goals that we can overlook the importance of rest and relaxation. Traveling gives Brynn and Lo a chance to kick back, put their feet up, and relax! The following videos show a few of Brynn and Lo’s travel excursions … Enjoy!

Historic Havre de Grace, Maryland

Brynn and Lo visited historic Havre de Grace, Maryland for their wedding anniversary. Why Havre de Grace? They didn’t want to spend alot of money, and we were looking for an interesting place to visit that was less than a day’s drive. Havre de Grace sits at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and the mouth of the Susquehanna River. It is historic because British troops came ashore during the War of 1812. In Search of R&R at Massanutten

Brynn and Lo recently spent Thanksgiving weekend at Massanutten. They were in search of rest and relaxation, health and wellness. Brynn and Lo usually take a trip to the mountains in the Autumn. It’s an opportunity to exhale, relax, and talk. They have found that communication is the key to a healthy relationship. Daily work and other activities can take up so much of your time that you barely have a chance to look at your significant other and say “Hello, how are you?” When Brynn and Lo go to the mountains, they take lots of walks. It gives them a chance to clear their heads, and it helps them regain perspective. Sometimes you can get so caught up in the daily grind, that you forget what’s really important in life. During one of their brisk walks, a bright red shrub caught their attention.

Brynn and Lo had no idea about the name of the shrub. All they knew is that it was stunning, and perfect for the upcoming holidays! To learn more about what Brynn and Lo called “the red berries shrub,” click here.

When Brynn and Lo travel, they usually use the Hilton Honors program to stay at a member of the Hilton chain of hotels. Brynn and Lo earn points for free nights, and when they use their AARP card, they get a late checkout time of 2pm! Brynn and Lo especially like the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites due to their free breakfast and large rooms. Whatever your choice, find a getaway location that’s close enough to reach in a few hours, and provides a perfect spot for rest and relaxation!
