Our Yucca plant blooms gorgeous white teardrop flowers in late Spring! It is a no maintenance perennial that serves 4 purposes in our landscape! The first purpose is to beautify our landscape, of course! It is an unusual plant because tall spikes grow from a mound of sharp-edged leaves. At the top of the spike is a cloud of gorgeous white flowers that look like they are upside-down.
Our Yucca plant also provides natural habitat for rabbits, and predictably, snakes. Whenever you have rabbits in your garden, snakes are not far behind. We believe the rabbits hide under the Yucca plant because the sharp-edged leaves provide protection from predators, such as the Red Fox we see every now and then.
To summarize, our yucca plants serves 4 purposes in our garden and landscape:
- Gorgeous white teardrop flowers high up on a 3 foot stalk every Spring!
- Natural habitat for small mammals, such as rabbits
- Host plant for the pretty and large Luna Moth, which pollinates the yucca plant
- A no-maintenance perennial that provides pretty blooms every Spring

Bonus Tip: If you are looking to add some height in your garden or landscape, Yucca is a good choice because the stalks are about 3 feet tall, and the cloud of flowers adds another 2 feet. If you are looking for an interesting and functional perennial, check your local Home Depot, Lowe’s, online Burpee Gardening or eBay for their selection of Yucca plants!
