Salvia is absolutely one of our favorite flowers! We love the tall spikes of flowers, and especially enjoy watching the hummingbirds feed several times per day. Salvia can be a little tempermental, so follow these tips to keep your Salvia happy!

  1. Prune dead blooms using quality pruning shears, such as Fiskars Traditional Bypass Pruning Shears (91095935J), as shown in this video.
  2. Fertilize every few weeks, using our favorite organic fertilizer – Espoma FT18 Flower Tone, 18-Pound
  3. Water Red Salvia as needed. The leaves will begin to droop when the plant needs water. To learn when to water plants, click here.
  4. Bonus Tip for Beginner Gardeners: The key to growing beautiful Red Salvia is the right amount of sun. They like 4-5 hours of morning sun. They don’t like the hot afternoon sun.
