It’s mid Spring in the Mid-Atlantic area of the U.S. and we are excited to see our White Azaleas blooming! The blooms are late this year because we had a long, cold winter. it’s just beginning to warm up, so our White Azaleas are a welcome sight!
For beginner gardeners, azaleas are a bit of a challenge. They like partial to full sun, but they don’t like the hot afternoon sun unless it’s filtered by a large tree, such as our Red Maple tree. They also need to be pruned to maintain shape. For details on pruning azaleas, click here. Azaleas like a acidic fertilizer such as Espoma HT8 Holly-Tone 4-3-4, 8 Pounds.
