Growing Blue Salvia from #Seed! #flowers #blueflowers

It’s late Spring in the Mid-Atlantic area of the U.S.A. and we just received our Blue Salvia seeds from Park Seed. Look at how tiny the seeds are … they are so tiny that they are difficult to pick up with fingers, so we are just going to spread the seeds on top of our container, and work them into the soil with our garden claw.

The seeds are very tiny so we repurposed a container we used last year for our Yellow Canna that didn’t return. We used our claw to break up the top few inches of soil, added peat moss and top soil, and sprinkled the tiny seeds on top. They are so tiny that they don’t need to be sowed too far under the surface.

Just 2 weeks ago, we sowed a packet of 50 seeds and we have an excellent germination rate! Look at how many seedlings have sprouted in just 2 weeks! Blue Salvia are very easy to grow and maintain. The bees love Blue Salvia, so if you have vegetable plants nearby, the bees will fertilize your vegetable plants! To see the video click here.

The seedlings are now about a month old, so this morning we are watering our Blue Salvia Seedlings to provide a boost and help them bloom! We are using a natural and free fertilizer called Super Juice by Ms Linda, the New Orleans Gardener. We had excellent results with our Bronze Orange Canna, so we hope to have the same results with Blue Salvia. We sowed 50 Blue Salvia seeds about a month ago, so we are in countdown mode to gorgeous blue flowers! To see the video click here.
